Terms of Service — Acceptable Use Agreement

Last updated: August 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Textunnel (https://textunnel.com), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use our service.

2. Description of Ephemeral P2P Service

Textunnel provides an ephemeral, peer-to-peer (P2P) data transmission service allowing users to transfer files, photos, videos, clipboard text, and links directly between web browsers over local Wi-Fi networks or encrypted WebRTC connections. Because data is streamed directly in memory between connecting peers, Textunnel acts solely as a communication protocol pipeline and does not store, host, or catalog user data.

3. Acceptable Use and Anti-Piracy Policy

Textunnel is provided strictly for lawful personal, professional, and commercial data synchronization. You agree not to use the service to transmit any unlawful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, malicious, or fraudulent material.

Strict Prohibition on Copyright Infringement: You may not use Textunnel to transfer copyrighted software, pirated media, unauthorized intellectual property, or any content that violates applicable laws. Because Textunnel is a direct peer-to-peer stream with zero server persistence, users remain solely and exclusively responsible for the legality and compliance of the files they transmit.

4. Disclaimer of Warranties

Textunnel is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or continuous transmission, as peer-to-peer WebRTC connection success depends upon external factors including user network topologies, NAT/firewall configurations, and browser hardware capabilities.

5. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall Textunnel, its developers, maintainers, or affiliates be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of the use of, or inability to use, this service, including but not limited to loss of data, transmission interruptions, or device sleep dropouts.

6. Legal & Terms Inquiries

If you have any questions or legal inquiries regarding these Terms of Service, please reach out to us at hello@textunnel.com or visit our Contact Page.

Frequently Asked Legal & Terms Questions

Are there any file size or bandwidth restrictions in the terms of service?

No. Textunnel imposes no artificial file size limits or bandwidth throttling. You are free to transfer files of any size over your own local network or peer-to-peer connections.

Can I use Textunnel for commercial business operations?

Yes. Textunnel is 100% free and open-source for personal, educational, and commercial business workflows without licensing fees.

Who is legally responsible for transferred files?

Because Textunnel streams data in memory directly between browser peers without central server storage, users retain full and exclusive legal responsibility for the content they transmit.

Does Textunnel claim any intellectual property rights over transferred files?

Never. Textunnel claims zero ownership, license, or rights to any data, photos, documents, or text transmitted through the service.
